SILK FLOWERS FOR PERFECTO MAG
I feel very lucky to have such artistic friends and colleagues who continue to ask me to collaborate with them in their work and creative projects. The super talented team behind Perfecto Mag (a new online fashion and lifestyle magazine based out of Toronto) asked me to create some simple silk flower headpieces for their shoot All This & Nothing shot in Cheltenham Badlands. Check out Perfecto Mag and keep posted on their newest collaborations with local artists in fashion, music and design.
EMILIA’S 1930′s GLAM HEADPIECE
My stunning friend Emilia: A dream client with fantastic style, who trusted me with making a perfect, custom beaded headpiece to compliment her 1930′s glam look. Emilia found a beautiful vintage rhinestone brooch from Magwood that she wanted incorporated in her piece. I hand stitched the brooch with countless seed beads, pearls and rhinestones to a strand of soft gold metallic lace. Thanks Emilia & Brett for being the cutest & most photogenic couple!

ANNIE’S 1920′S STYLE HEADPIECE
I couldn’t be happier with Annie Chou’s custom 1920′s inspired headpiece!!! I scoured through my favourite Toronto vintage and antique shops and found the perfect collection of rhinestone necklaces. I combined 5 vintage, soft gold and silver toned necklaces together with countless seed beads and pearls to create Annie’s one-of-a-kind bridal headpiece. Thanks Annie, Cameron and Danielle Matar Photography for providing me with such fantastic shots!

LAKRAUSE 2012 LOOKBOOK
I’ve been a busy women the past few months, sourcing, prepping, sewing, dyeing…….making making making! Now, I’m ever so pleased to finally show off my pieces after months of hoarding them in my studio.
For the 2012 Collection, I really focused on incorporating as much reworked vintage jewellery as possible. I was able to source some really fantastic dead stock glass seed beads, strands of fantastic costume necklaces, pearls and rhinestones from a few amazing antique stores and shows in and around Toronto! Check out my hand beaded headpieces that boast countless beads, pearls, antique brooches and earrings and my reworked vintage necklaces that I made into pretty head chains. I even started playing around with silk organza that I have turned into some simple flower pieces as well.

AMANDA’S CUSTOM 1920′S STYLE HEADPIECE
Custom 1920′s style bridal headpiece for Amanda French which happens to also be my first custom piece sent overseas to Scotland! I combined two vintage rhinestone necklaces together to create the rhinestone headband and attached a spray of hand dyed ostrich feathers with delicate pearls and stones.

I recently worked on a super cute and super fun Valentine’s Day photo shoot, Young Hearts Run Free with The Hudson’s Bay for their young and fresh B-Insider. I had a blast working on set and creating the floral set design and rose halo headpiece.

ALICIA’S CUSTOM METAL HEADPIECE
Again, I had the pleasure working with a fantastic client, Alicia. We met at the Queen West Art Crawl in September and she was so excited to have found me. She had grand ideas for her wedding headpiece and I was just the one to create something beautiful and unique. I created this fantastic metal headpiece from an old swag belt and two vintage metal link necklaces. I was so happy with it, I really had a hard time giving to Alicia!
A few years ago while doing an outdoor art show here in Toronto I bumped into Heather. Years ago she and I took the same sculpture class together while in University and at the art show she ended up falling in love with one of my headpieces and taking it home. A year or so later Heather and James got engaged and I got an e-mail asking if I could make her another beautiful feather headpiece for her wedding. I was thrilled, we met for drinks, caught up and had a good time brainstorming ideas. She was a dream client and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. Super simple and super pretty.
I was pleased to make a bridal birdcage veil with an attaching feather flower fascinatorfor my beautiful friend and colleague, Danica Salajko her her wedding at Lake Bled in Slovenia. A stunning bride and a fantastic wedding!
